d.J presents: the sorrow side of sunrise_

this is my latest d.J mix >> a sonic amalgam weaving through my favorite trance and progressive tracks of the summer of 2013 // as extroverted as it is introverted / as uplifting as it is sorrowful >> just the way it should be_

at home, so far away_

to think of touch, it's been so long
i never thought i'd feel so human; i never thought that would feel so alien
which felt like home_

xenogenic

the brilliance of this tune are the changes from minor to major keys. It's as though a key change is the chorus. Ironically, the change to major key is introduced with the line, "I can't resist the winter". This is a finely crafted song in all regards: "I feel so at home in this lonely atmosphere"_

kid alien / "the atmosphere"

I am the one with many faces
Floating outside of time and space
I am a man of many races
Who always feels somewhat out of place
But maybe I can’t resist the winter
And maybe the silence carries me
You let me know I’m not forgotten
I wait for your call to set me free
I am everyone, I am no one
Living in the center of my fears
Won’t you join me in this sweet surrender
Disconnected from the atmosphere
The atmosphere

one cannot save money by cutting investments

I respect that we are sympathetic to and passionate about unique causes that affect us personally. But please consider how education and scientific research contribute to your health, your finances, and your security: education and research are pillars of American identity and preservation; they are an economic policy, a public health plan, and national defense. Our academics are not an expense to eliminate; rather, they are a privileged investment that invents solutions. We compromise our economy, our health, our defense -- our identity -- when our best-trained minds are atrophied. Yet, such atrophy is already underway and set to worsen tomorrow. We can do better.
